Marketing Your Charity and Non-profit

CharityWorks is proudly a New Zealand marketing organisation helping charities and nonprofits do what they are good at- helping their cause. We know how important it is for you to have an effective branding, marketing and communications strategy to help you accomplish your goals. A well branded organisation will have more success with raising funds and ultimately be able to help more people through the use of those funds.

What is your organisations marketing mindset?

Branding is crucial to nonprofit success because donors have to trust your organisation to use donations as intended. Many will support your cause, because it is also their cause, so long as they feel that their dollars will affect positive change. Although the mission for non-profits is very different to a private business, the way you raise funds is very similiar. You have to be able to market your non-profit for success.

Here are three questions for you to consider:

  1. What importance does your organisation place on marketing communications and is marketing integrated into all aspects?
  2. How do you communicate? (What tools are you using)
  3. What does your organisation communicate? (Look at your website and marketing material, the look, the words, the message)

We are streamlined and cost-effective so that you get the most from your investment. We provide a full range of marketing, website design and communications services, from strategy through implementation.

Here’s What We Do

1. Creating a Strategy

We start by working with you to establish where you are at the moment and what you need to achieve your goals. Whether you are looking at fundraising, new membership, establishing awareness or finding volunteers, we can help. Our experienced team can create an offline and online strategy for your brand and communication needs and then implement it for you. We understand the constraints you work under and realise it isn’t easy sometimes to meet all your stakeholder needs. We will focus you on three key concepts, what you do, how you do it and why you do it. Most of us are really good at the what and how, it is the WHY we do it that we will challenge you to find.

2. Online Marketing

CharityWorks is focused on creating websites that work for you and your visitors. For most of us, our website is the public face of who we are and just like when we meet someone new, we form an impression in about 10 seconds. We believe that the two most important components of your website are that it looks professional and builds trust. After that the website needs to be informative, relevant and up-to-date with news, perhaps a blog or video and of course a call to action. If you are a charity your website must be donorcentric. If you are a membership association it will tell the member what they need to know.
You are in control. All of our websites are built on industry standard content management systems so that you can edit the site and keep it up to date yourself. We give you the training to manage your website – your way.

3. Communications

Gaining and keeping the attention of your stakeholders is key in the competitive marketplace for non-profits. Here are some key questions for you to consider:

  1. Does your organisation have key messages, and does it use them consistently?
  2. Does your organisation truly understand the wants and needs of your key audiences, or do you make assumptions about those wants and needs?
  3. Do you think that more effective communications could lead to greater success for your organisation?
  4. Do your board and key staff understand the value of effective communications?
  5. What, if anything, has stopped you from assessing and improving your communications?
  6. How could you be more effective in your communications?
  7. Have you evaluated your efforts? If so, what have you found – good or bad?

We will show you how to use all the current social web tools to communicate more effectively with your stakeholders.

4. Building Community

Your community is who you are and today there are some fantastic tools to interact with your people. The mission of your online community needs to be inline with how you interact in your face-to-face space. The core principle of social media is to ‘listen to your community’. And its this listening that will become critical in developing your online and offline strategy. Our services help you to build the best online network for your organisation and that might include a forum or FaceBook page.
